Erev Rosh Hashanah
To the tune of a haunting niggun, we light the menorahs and holiday candles to begin our High Holy Days. Judith Kate-Friedman’s song, Fresh Start, Hanan ben Ari’s, Sh’vurei Lev (for the Broken Hearted), and the Chava Mirel setting of Achat Sha’alti serve as musical portals into our theme as we acknowledge the hurt of this past year even as we hold one another and step into the New Year.
We will be using Mishkan HaNefesh for Rosh Hashanah.
Join us in person or via Zoom. Password required. Please contact Temple Sinai if you do not have the password before the holiday.
Selichot: The Music of Return
This year, we will have a special musical Selichot service, featuring acapella performances, small ensemble songs from Israel, and High Holy Day themes from our choir and string players. Selichot is the traditional beginning of the High Holy Day period of reflection and forgiveness. Beginning with Havdalah, we will create a space for reflection and inspiration centered on the human voice.
