Confirmation

Confirmation is a Reform-originated ceremony for teens that is tied to the Jewish holiday of Shavuot. Where bar or bat mitzvah is an individual affirmation of Jewish identity, Confirmation is a group affirmation of commitment to the Jewish people for teenagers who have continued Jewish learning and involvement after bar/bat mitzvah. Confirmation, one of the “youngest” Jewish lifecycle ceremonies, began less than 200 years ago, and requires being active in our youth group, guided learning with the rabbi, or other opportunities for putting Jewish learning into practice.
