Jewish life is not a spectator sport.  We are called by covenant to work together to create a community for worship, celebration,  learning, teaching the next generation, caring for the sick and dying, and for helping the poor and oppressed.

The synagogue has been the center of Jewish communal life for over two millennia, and they are led by a board or va’ad, that works in support of and cooperation with a rabbi, or rabbis, and cantors.  In most synagogues, committees do the hard but holy work of making sure the synagogue prospers and fulfills its mission.
