Current Book: Spies of No Country: Secret Lives at the Birth of Israel – Matti Friedman
“Wondrous . . . Compelling . . . Piercing.” —The New York Times Book Review
Award-winning writer Matti Friedman’s tale of Israel’s first spies has all the tropes of an espionage novel, including duplicity, betrayal, disguise, clandestine meetings, the bluff, and the double bluff—but it’s all true.
After too long a hiatus the Chaverim Committee (AKA-Caring Committee) is back in action with Deb Leopold and Amy Collins as co-chairs. They are excited to be heading up this very necessary committee for our Temple community. If you enjoy helping friends in times of need, please consider joining our “non-committee” committee–no regular meetings, just the warm, fuzzy feeling you get from helping others. Email us if you are interested.
We are working on a number of initiatives…

Saturday, May 4 at 5:00pm, POSTPONED! Watch for more info. Meet at Temple Sinai for a discussion of Yossi Klein Halevi’s New York Times Best Seller, Letters to My Palestinian Neighbor.
Then, on Sunday, May 12, we will gather at 7:30 pm to chat before joining a Facebook Live discussion with Yossi Klein HaLevi. I want to have an occasional book club with any who are interested and so I thought we could jump in on this first Zioness book club event. Zioness is an organization that works to make sure progressive activist circles, particularly those focused on women’s issues, remain open and welcoming to those who also identify as Zionists.
Yossi Klein HaLevi’s Letters to My Palestinian Neighbor has garnered praise and criticism for its attempt to find common ground between Israeli Jews and Palestinians. It is a great opportunity for our ongoing conversations about balancing Israeli and Palestinian needs and rights, and we will deepen our discussions by considering a range of reviews about the book. We will have 10 FREE copies of the book by Friday for the first ten people interested in joining our series of discussions of the book. If you are interested, please let Michael Levine know!
Hello Temple Sinai!
Our community Seder was a blast! The room was beautiful and well over a hundred of us had a big time singing, reading and connecting. I hope it is a tradition that grows as we create new Sinai traditions, readings and songs.
A big shout-out to all those that helped make such a successful Community Seder…
