At Temple Sinai, the answer is yes. We’ve started a theater group, presenting online plays for our Young Families Programs! Our Hanukkah production, Hersheliya & the Hanukkah Goblins, was a big hit, now we’re gearing up for our silly, wacky, totally outrageous Purimspiel.
The plays engage every segment of the congregation. The stars of the shows, theater-loving students of our religious school, are thrilled to return to a favorite activity. Little kids love watching the big kids, and the whole congregation kvells (delights)!
Our post-pandemic future – (we can dream, can’t we?) – Live productions, student-written & directed shows addressing kids’ concerns & passions, not limiting ourselves to Jewish holidays for content. We’d love to incorporate diverse community groups, building respect, compassion, and understanding with the inclusive magic of theater.
